The Halifax Regional Municipality will have the honour of hosting the 2009 International Canoe Federation’s (ICF) World Senior Canoe-Kayak Championships, from August 12 to 16, 2009, thanks to an investment by the Government of Canada and contributions from the Province of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). Canadian kayaker named as Olympic flag bearer
Monday, July 28th, 2008World and Olympic Champion Adam van Koeverden will lead the Canadian contingent in the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Beijing. Van Koeverden was selected as Canada’s flag bearer, beating out a competitive list of candidates. Diver Alexandre Despatie, gymnast Kyle Shewfelt and nine-time Olympian equestrian rider Ian Millar were also candidates. (more…)

Peter Giles appointed Assistant Chef de Mission
Monday, October 30th, 2006The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) announced today that Peter Giles, a 1996 Olympian in kayaking and triple bronze medallist at the 1991 Pan American Games, has been appointed as Canada’s Assistant Chef de Mission for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
