Lake Banook is an iconic venue that has played host to numerous provincial, national and international championships, as well as hundreds of regional regattas. The Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport is the Atlantic Canadian centre for domestic, regional and international flight service. With over 600 flights a week, you can travel by air to Halifax on direct flights from many Canadian, U.S., European, and Caribbean destinations. Add to that hundreds more connecting flights and it’s easy to get to Halifax from just about anywhere in the world. Halifax is geographically closer to Boston (fly time 1.45 hours) and New York (fly time 2.25 hours) than any other Canadian city and over one hour closer to Europe than any other major North American city. While visiting in Nova Scotia, take some time to see our beautiful province. Canoe ’09 has featured three tour packages which are available through Ambassatours.
There are many great places to stay in the Halifax-Dartmouth area. Canoe ‘09 has made arrangements with the hotels listed below for a special rate. The prices listed include applicable taxes. Please contact hotels directly to make bookings. Identify your booking as Canoe ‘09 for the special rate. To book accommodations, you must provide the hotel with a credit card number. These are typical hotel accommodations with the usual amenities. Each of these hotels has a full service restaurant.
With the entertainment line up for Canoe ‘09’s festival, it’s no wonder that 100,000 people are expected to attend from August 12 to 16. Prince Albert Road and several other streets will be closed to traffic to make way for a celebration of our sport. The festival is a non-gated and family fun event that will feature daily entertainment as well as several special events.
